Introversion explained (Is that a word?)

                                                                So true :)

I am an introvert who is frequently mistaken for an extrovert, I mean.... how funny, right? I'm energized by being alone or around few, close friends and or family, this does not mean that I enjoy being alone every single time, no man/ woman is an island, I don't think there is anyone on this earth who would like to hang out alone all the time, when I need to feel energized though, I would rather be by the lake, walking with a friend or two, or family members or reading a good book, while sipping on my favorite tea (Pepper mint, it’s the best :)) those are moments that energize me.

Often times, introverts are mistaken for being snobbish (lol...those who know me well, know I am nothing close to that), shy (I'm not a shy lady :) ), or crave to be constantly alone (not true). I don't mind being alone, I don't mind being around people, but I truly enjoy being around the right kind of people (encouraging, up lifting and positive people who build others up and work towards the life they want, instead of comparing their life with others etc.). Allow me to share a quote I love, that describes one of my favorite introverts, "Bill Gates is introverted but not shy: He's quiet and bookish, but isn't bothered by what other people think of him." I seriously think this quote describes me perfectly, and I am not comparing myself to the great Bill Gates, I am me, and he is Bill Gates, so....no misconceptions here ;)

neuroscientist was asked to describe the difference between shyness and introversion, since these words are frequently used interchangeably, I just love how he described it: He stated the following, 'Shyness is a behavior -– it’s being fearful in a social situation. Whereas introversion is a motivation. It’s how much you want and need to be in those interactions.’"

It’s funny, the person I am closest to, my mom is extremely extroverted and I’m the complete opposite. My mom and I are completely different, the way we think, how we respond to various situations etc., but for some reason, we balance each other very well, I really appreciate God's attention to detail, he knew that if this world was full of introverts and no extroverts and vice versa, it would be incomplete.

There you have it, Introverts rock! now go give one a bear hug :)
