Introversion explained (Is that a word?)
So true :)
There you have it, Introverts rock! now go give one a bear hug :)
I am an introvert who is
frequently mistaken for an extrovert, I mean.... how funny, right? I'm
energized by being alone or around few, close friends and or family, this does
not mean that I enjoy being alone every single time, no man/ woman is an
island, I don't think there is anyone on this earth who would like to hang out
alone all the time, when I need to feel energized though, I would rather be by
the lake, walking with a friend or two, or family members or reading a good book,
while sipping on my favorite tea (Pepper mint, it’s the best :)) those are
moments that energize me.
Often times, introverts are
mistaken for being snobbish (lol...those who know me well, know I am nothing
close to that), shy (I'm not a shy lady :) ), or crave to be constantly alone
(not true). I don't mind being alone, I don't mind being around people, but I truly enjoy being around the right kind of people (encouraging, up lifting and positive people who build others up and work towards the life they want,
instead of comparing their life with others etc.). Allow me to share a quote I
love, that describes one of my favorite introverts, "Bill Gates is introverted but not shy: He's quiet and
bookish, but isn't bothered by what other people think of him." I
seriously think this quote describes me perfectly, and I am not comparing
myself to the great Bill Gates, I am me, and he is Bill Gates, so....no
misconceptions here ;)
A neuroscientist was asked to describe the difference between
shyness and introversion, since these words are frequently used
interchangeably, I just love how he described it: He stated the following,
'Shyness is a behavior -– it’s being fearful in a social situation. Whereas
introversion is a motivation. It’s how much you want and need to be in those
interactions.’"
It’s funny, the person I am closest to, my mom is extremely extroverted and I’m the complete opposite. My mom and I are completely different, the way we think, how we respond to various situations etc., but for some reason, we balance each other very well, I really appreciate God's attention to detail, he knew that if this world was full of introverts and no extroverts and vice versa, it would be incomplete.

The Power of the Tongue
"The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences." Proverbs 18:21
"A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness crushes the spirit"
Sadly, a vast majority of people don't realize how powerful their words are, it literally can breath life or death into peoples lives. Many successful people often reflect back and point out one person who encouraged them to pursue their dreams, despite their current circumstances, often a teacher, boss, relative, friend etc.
On the other hand; a large group of successful people also state that they have met people who have negatively impacted their life, simply because of the words they spoke to them. I remember as a child growing up, i struggled with mathematics, and i met a teacher who called me stupid and literally stated that i would amount to nothing. I was very young, and my mind at the time didn't have the ability to filter positive from negative and then make a firm decision based on the truth i now know, which states that:
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me", "I alone know the plans i have for you, for good and not for evil, to prosper you and not to fail you, plans to give you a future and a hope", "You shall be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath." I repeat these and many verses in my mind through out the day, when i am faced with extremely challenging projects, meetings or presentations, i don't allow fear, discouragement or lack of confidence to get the best of me, because i realize my hope is in the creator of the universe, there is NOTHING too hard for my God.
One of my favorite verses is, Isaiah 54:10, "Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54:10 .......WOW!!!, That's how much God loves us, though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed? how amazing! God loves us y'all and my confidence, every day is not dependent on things or people, because these do change, but its dependent on God, he is a constant help in time of need and just repeating these verses in my mind when faced with challenges, always gives me the courage i need to make it through.
Although my high school teacher spoke negative words regarding my ability to understand math, even though i was struggling with it, i finally managed to over come it, but i lived a large part of my life believing the words she spoke, and didn't even think i could do anything better than what she suggested...praise God, i met a professor in college who spoke words of life to me regarding the same subject and literally brought back to life, something that had literally been killed by another person in the same position, earlier in my life.
Whatever you do, never underestimate the power of the tongue, use it to build and encourage others, never use it to say negative things about people, it doesn't benefit anyone, if you can't speak life into their life, please just keep that powerful tool shut, but for goodness sake! Please don't speak death into anyone's dreams, aspirations, goals and other areas of their life. Little as it may seem, the tongue is a powerful tool, use it wisely and with love :)

Balancing act, Motivation Friday :)
I woke up early today, jumped out of bed and started my day with an early devotion.....back up! that's how I wish my day started. Its Friday, okay...so I dragged myself out of bed, prepared breakfast and jumped into the shower.... My alarm kept reminding me that If I didn't get out of the shower soon, I would be late for my first meeting of the day. I didn't want that to happen, so I got out and got dressed, in between all that, I enjoyed a quick breakfast meal. I hadn't had my morning devotion, so I pulled up my favorite devotion site (http://www.youdevotion.com/). I always go straight to "Faiths check book" and "Streams in the desert", although there are several options. It was abit quick, but it took me away for a second and my mind was engaged in how much the blood of Jesus has covered my sins and weaknesses, it is not because of "human perfection" or any good acts we perform, but only by his grace, that we can be saved. My day from that point proceeded well, and then I came across this commercial, while at work and it simply motivated me to try to always do my best in whatever I do, not half hearting anything, just purely 100% in everything. I hope you had a motivated and awesome Friday!!
